Tough Loss for Viking Girls

Last night in North Bend the Siuslaw Viking volleyball team began its pre season with a match against the Bulldogs.  It was a back and forth match according to head coach Jonathan Hornung who said several players gave a glimpse of what the season would be.

“Mia (Collins) led the way with 12 kills and Desi Tupua, a freshman, followed her up with 7.”

An ankle injury to Tupua in the fourth set changed the dynamics of the team according to Hornung.  The bulldogs won that set forcing a 5th set.  The Vikings were down 14-10 and fought back, but the Bulldogs finished strong to take the 5th set and the match.  Today the Vikings host Bandon and Douglas for a jamboree beginning at noon.
