Oregon, Oregon State Drop Openers; Viking Volleyball; Ems Finish Season Tonight

Oregon, Oregon State Drop Openers

Over the weekend both Oregon and Oregon State opened up their college football seasons.

The Ducks faced the Auburn Tigers in Texas where the Ducks had several opportunities to capitalize but a dropped pass in the end-zone and a missed field goal allowed the Tigers to stay close.  Two late fourth quarter drives by the Tigers proved fatal for the Ducks as Freshman Auburn QB Nix connected with Seth Williams for a 26 yard touchdown with 9 seconds on the game clock.  The Ducks got the ball back with 3 seconds in Auburn territory, but Duck QB Justin Herbert threw the ball out of the end-zone running the clock out.  Final Score 27-21 Auburn.

The Beavers played Friday night against Oklahoma State who racked up 52 points against Oregon State.  Final score 52-36

Viking Volleyball

Also on Friday, the Siuslaw Vikings Volleyball team participated in a jamboree against Bandon and Douglas.  The Vikings took both matches in straight sets.  3-0, 3-0.  Competition continues on Thursday evening at Pleasant Hill.
