5 Set Loss to Lions

It was a 5 set battle in Cottage Grove last night for the Lady Vikings on the court.  After digging a 21-15 hole in the first set Freshman Desi Tupua served 10 straight balls resulting in a 25-21 set victory. The second set went to Cottage Grove 25-21 and the Vikings turned it around in the third set with Mia Collins contributing 7 kills and three stuff blocks to take the third set.  Coach Jonathan Hornung said the fourth set was flat allowing the Lions to tie it up.  And they started off the fifth set in the lead but Cottage Grove battled for the victory.

“They were, by far, the biggest team we’ve seen all year and the girls stepped up really, really big.”

Collins had 17 kills on the night with 3 blocks and 9 digs . Hayden Muller had 10 digs and Lindsey Long added 8 in the 5 set loss.  The Lady Viks are in nonleague action at Sisters High School for tournament play Saturday.  The Sailor girls will be at home tomorrow for a double header, first with CS Lewis Academy at noon then East Linn at 3 o’clock.

Vikings Open at Home

The Vikings are on the at home tonight for nonleague football against the Cubs.  Pregame on KCST is at 6:45, kick off between visiting Newport and Siuslaw is at 7 o’clock.

Viking quarterback club has been moved to noon today at the school.

Mapleton at Home

Mapleton is at home with Siletz Valley for 8 man football tonight.  Kick off between the Sailors and Warriors is at 7 o’clock.

Ducks on the Road

The Ducks are on the road to Stanford Saturday afternoon for Oregon’s Pac Twelve season open.  Pregame on KCST is at 2:30, kick off on the Farm in Palo Alto is at 4 o’clock.  Oregon State has a bye this week.
