Mapleton Sailors Still Unbeaten; Vikings Hold Off McLoughlin; Cross Country Teams Place 4th; Stanford Over OSU

Mapleton Sailors Still Unbeaten

Friday night the Mapleton Sailors were at home against the Elkton Elks.  It was the first league game of the season for the Sailors and they continued their un-beaten ride with a 52-6 stomping of the Elks.  JJ Neece led in rushing with 12 rushes for 311 yards with 4 rushing touchdowns and one passing.  Phillip Burnett had 10 tackles on defense with 2 sacks and 1 fumble recovery in the win.

Vikings Hold Off McLoughlin

On Saturday Night the Siuslaw Viking were on the gridiron in Madras.  The Vikings took on McLoughlin in a see-saw battle that ended in a Siuslaw victory as the Vikings stopped a 2 point conversion with seconds left on the clock for a close 48-46 victory.  Sophomore Camp LaCouture ran for 251 yards on 21 rushes with 4 TD’s.

Cross Country Teams Place 4th

Siuslaw Viking Cross Country teams placed fourth at Saturday’s Springfield Invitational.  For the ladies Hannah Rannow placed 5th overall in the 5000 with a time of 19:47 flat.  Brea Blankenship and Rylee Colton finished 12thand 13th respectively.  For the Men, Brendon Jensen finished in the 8th spot with a time of 17:01.30.

Stanford Over OSU

College Gridiron saw the Stanford Cardinal defeat the Oregon State Beavers at Reser Stadium 31-28
