Gas Prices Spike

In less than a week gasoline prices have jumped again in Florence.  Monday saw a 5 cent jump raising the average price of a gallon of regular gas to $2.72 a gallon.  On Wednesday the average price shot up 15 cents to $2.87 a gallon.  According to Marie Dodds with AAA Oregon the jump is a west coast issue dealing with refineries and a decrease in supply. At least 5 California refineries are experiencing problems that are limiting the amount of gasoline that they can produce adding to the tightening supplies. The rest of the country is experiencing slight drops in prices.  Dodds says prices will continue to rise until the issues on the west coast are resolved.  Outside of the Florence area prepare to pay above the $3.00 mark for fuel.
