Cole Added To Head Coaching Roster

Siuslaw High School has chosen Ashlee Cole to head the girls basketball team.  Cole is a 2014 graduate of Siuslaw High school and says she has wanted the job for some time.  After applying last year and missing the cut, she says she waited to see this year and after the third posting decided to reapply and was chosen.  Date for first practice is a month away.

202: “We get started November 18th, that’s the official practice start date, I’m going to try to hold some open gyms before then.”

Cole says she will be having a meeting for all interested players this Wednesday during lunch at Siuslaw High School.

Athlete of the Week

The Sports Club the Siuslaw News and Coast Radio Sports congratulate Braydon Thornton as this week’s Athlete of the Week.  Braydon set the all time receiving record for a single game this week be making 12 receptions for a total of 307 yards and 4 touchdowns,  including an incredible one-handed grab in the end-zone.

Honorable mention goes to junior Mapleton outside linebacker, Robbie Burnett, who had 20 tackles in the Sailor win over Oakridge.

Soccer Remains Undefeated

Siuslaw Soccer finished league play last night against Junction City.  The Vikings remain undefeated at 6-0 with two non-league games left on the schedule.  Coach Londi Tomaro credits the defense with this win, particularly sophomore Kassandra Dietrich.

203: “Playing an especially solid game defensively, shutting down offensive plays both on her line and into the center of the field.”

Saturday morning Siuslaw hosts Waldport at home the game will be played on the JV baseball field.
