Code Update Reveal

Next Wednesday the Florence Planning commission will offer an informational meeting on the new codes and guidelines for building in the city limits.  For almost the past year the commission at the directive of the city council have been working on updating the 39 year old city codes.  One of the motivations for the upgrades was input from builders on how difficult and arduous the process was for construction.  The other was a grave need for housing, including affordable housing.  Wednesday’s meeting will outline the new proposed regulations.  City recorder, Kelli Weese:

“This is a chance for people to come and ask questions and figure out what it means for them or just get the broad overview of what these code changes are about.”

One of the changes to the code is to make it more Lay person friendly, for example definitions on roof height will be simplified and also more uniform.  The meeting is at 5:30 on Wednesday, November 6th.  You can also hear more about the changes in the 4 oclock hour of Our Town on Wednesday.
