Fishermen Rescued

Three fishermen are safe after their boat capsized Tuesday evening.  The incident off the North Jetty of Coos Bay had the U.S. Coast Guard along with the North Bay and Hauser Fire Districts responding.  At the time of the rescue waves were breaking at 8-10 feet and responders were able to get close to the boat and discovered that survivors were trapped inside the vessel.  The three men were trapped inside the engine room where water would fill the cabin and then recede.  After about an hour crews were able to get to the boat and used sawzalls to breach the hull.  All three men were conscious and alert although suffering from hypothermia according to the Chief of the North Bay Fire district, James Aldrich.
