Athlete of the Week: Heather Wierichs
The Sports Club, the Siuslaw News and Coast Radio Sports congratulate junior Mapleton Girl’s Basketball Player Heather Wierichs as this week’s Athlete of the Week. Heather has been the Sailor’s leading scorer in the last three consecutive wins for the Sailors which included 11 points and 8 rebounds in Thursday’s win over McKenzie.
Honorable mention goes to Heather’s brother Justyce who led all scorers in Mapleton’s wins at Crow and McKenzie.
Prep Schedule
The Siuslaw Vikings travel to Marshfield this evening to take on the Pirates. The Pirates are 13-7 overall and 4-3 in league play for the boys. The lady Pirates are 7-14 and 2-5 in league play. Pregame on KCST this evening is at 5:30, tip off for the girls is 5:45 and the boys will follow at 7:15.
The Mapleton Sailors are on the courts this evening at home against Alsea. Games begin at 5:30
