Rotary Auction Postponed; School Conferences Cancelled

Rotary Auction Postponed

The Rotary Club of Florence, Oregon will be postponing the Saturday, March 14 charity auction, “The Mad Hatter’s Tea Party.”  According to a release just issued the Rotary Club of Florence believes the postponement to be in the best interests of the community and the clubs local youth volunteers.  Co Chair of the event Kevin McMullen expressed his disappointment but wanted to reiterate that if a mistake is made it best be on the side of caution.  Rotary President, Meg Spencer says the postponement will “only mean that we are stronger and more connected when we do get to come together.”  As one might imagine, a date will be determined at a later date.

School Conferences Cancelled

According to Siuslaw School Superintendant Andy Grzeskowiak, Siuslaw schools have cancelled their conferences scheduled for today and tomorrow.  In addition the 8th grade open house scheduled for this evening and the AVID celebration have also been postponed.  All other large scale gatherings and events are cancelled for the next 30 days.  School will be in session on Monday and sports practices will continue as they are in smaller groups.  Grzeskowiak says they are awaiting information from OSAA regarding sporting events
