3 Ducks Drafted in Top 10 WNBA Draft; Pivec Headed to Atlanta

Ducks Go 1,2, and 8

Over the weekend the WNBA held their draft and as little surprise the reigning All-American was the first overall pick.  The Duck’s Sabrina Ionescu was chosen by the New York Liberty.  The number 2 pick was Satou Sabally for the Ducks and she is headed to Dallas to play for the Wings.  Ruthy Hebard was the #8 pick overall and she is headed to the Chicago Sky.  Ionescu and Sabally have also signed lucrative endorsement deals Ionescu with Nike and Sabally with Uninterrupted and KUTULA.  Lebron James, a huge proponent of women’s basketball tweeted support for both women on Saturday.

Pivec Heads to Atlanta

Oregon State’s outstanding point guard Mikayla Pivec was chosen by the Atlanta Dream as the first pick in the 3 round.  UCLA was the only other PAC-12 team with a draftee.  Japreece Dean was chosen 30th overall and will join Duck’s Ruthy Hebard in Chicago.
