Athlete of the Year
There will not be a traditional selection of the Athlete of the Year this year, instead coaches from the Siuslaw and Mapleton School districts will recognize their teams as a whole with some mentions of those athletes that did get to participate. A discussion was held regarding the athletes that did not get to participate and how it is important to recognize their contributions even though they did not get to compete. There will be a campaign later this month to celebrate the athletes and the seniors that will be moving on. There is still no word on how the fall season will start, but it is likely that sporting events, if allowed to begin, will be without the typical crowds in the stands.
