The Current moratorium on sporting activities will remain in place at least until May 25th regardless of what phase of reopening the county is in. the Oregon School Activities Association (OSAA). They are reporting that they have contingency groups meeting for all sporting activities scheduled for the fall. OSAA’s executive board will meet again on May 20th to review the latest data collected with plans to notify schools shortly thereafter. OSAA is partnering with NFHS and the University of Wisconsin to study the effects the closure has had on high school students. Athlete of the Week
The Sports Club, the Siuslaw News and Coast Radio Sports congraulate Elijah LaCosse as this week’s Athlete of the Week. Elijah finished the State Wrestling Championship in third place. After losing in the first round he went on to score 5 consecutive pins including a rematch against his first round opponent. He was one of only two wrestlers in the tournament to do that and scored 23 points in the 138 pound weight bracket.
Honorable mention goes to another Viking Wrestler, Hayden Muller who placed 4th in the 135 pound girls division.
