Team Will Be Ready
Head Siuslaw football coach Sam Johnson says if they get 9 days of practice in prior to the start of the football season, the Siuslaw Vikings will be ready to play. Johnson says athletes have been working out and getting ready to play. He also said that he had to discourage members of the team to not congregate for self-initiated practices. If the Phases keep moving forward, Johnson says they could be back to practice by mid July, barring any new outbreaks of the coronavirus. The fall season begins at South Umpqua on September 4th.
Mapleton High School’s 8 man football squad also begins away at Chiloquin on September 4th.
