OSAA Sets Back Opening Games – Siuslaw Suspends Voluntary Practices

Siuslaw Athletics has put a suspension on voluntary work-outs on school grounds until further notice, according to Siuslaw School Superintendent Andy Grzeskowiak.  While there has been one student athlete involved in the voluntary work-outs that did test negative after reporting some flu-like symptoms, there is too great a risk to continue with voluntary summer work-outs considering the recent spikes and upswing in confirmed cases here in Florence

The OSAA Executive Board met in a closed work session July 20‐22 to discuss the latest updates on the Coronavirus pandemic as it relates to OSAA member schools and the upcoming school year.  The board said just as schools will not look the same, it’s clear that school sports and activities will not either.  It’s important to remember that any participation that can be done safely. The first Fall Sports contest date with the uncertainty of school reopening plans has been delayed by the OSAA for Cross Country Soccer and Volleyball until September 23rd.  The board will meet again August 3rd.
