Fall Sports Could Play in Winter/Early Spring
With the Siuslaw school district unable to open for in school instruction, Athletic Director Chris Johnson says it would be difficult for student athletes to compete in fall sports. Johnson said at this point best hopes are for a shortened seasonal schedule that would go from January to June of 2021. A model that was developed by schools in Nevada.
“Basically what that would means is is we would do winter sports in January/February-ish, the dates aren’t set, and then we would follow with fall sports and then to spring sports.”
Johnson says they were on a pretty good track for being able to play in the fall here in Florence, but statewide the conditions were not acceptable. But he says for health and safety moving sports competition is the best scenario at this time.
