U of O Mullens Addresses Cancellation

U of O athletic director Rob Mullens met with the media yesterday via videoconference.  He says the economic impact of the cancellation of the fall sports season will be in the 50 million dollar range, but that number will be dependent on a couple of scenarios.

“I guess we really have to determine whether we’re going to be able to have some of these postponed games played in the spring.”

Mullens says they are looking at other revenue options and additionally have cut some expenses.  He said one of the hardest cuts made was a 10% staff reduction by handing out a leave without pay.  Additionally all staff has taken a 10% cut in pay.  Head Football Coach Mario Cristobal told reporters that he has spent the last 36 hours meeting with players one on one and knows that even though the season’s cancellation is difficult, it is the right thing to do for the players and staff.
