Beavers Win Opener; Rivalry – Friday

Beavers Win Opener

The Oregon State Beavers basketball team has won their opening game.  Yesterday afternoon the Beavers bested the California Bears 71-63 and did so by out rebounding the bear 43-32.  Warith Alatish led the Beavers with 16 points and Ethan Thompson added 15.  4 Beavers in all were in double figures.

Rivalry – Friday

The Ducks and the Beavers meet tomorrow afternoon for the newly named rivalry.  It is the 124th time the two teams have met.  The game will be played at Reser Stadium beginning at 4:30.  Pregame on KCST begins at 3 and KCFM begins their pregame at 3:30.  Duck’s head coach Mario Cristobal says the Ducks will have to tackle well to have a chance at winning.  He is concerned about Beaver back Jermar Jefferson who had runs of 75 and 65 last week against California.  Cristobal says the ducks dodged a bullet after linebacker Noah Sewell was carted off the field with what appeared to be a serious leg injury, but was back at practice on Monday.
