OSAA Shuffles Schedules…Again

The Oregon Schools Activities Association which regulates high school sports met yesterday to outline the upcoming athletic seasons of sports.  The OSAA determined that it was necessary to rearrange, once again, the upcoming sports schedules.  Fall sport practices will be allowed to begin practicing on February 22, but that does not include football.  At this time football is not allowed under the current guidelines that the state has published, but some practices are currently schedule to begin on February 8th and it does not appear that they have officially cancelled football.  Spring sports like baseball and track and field will begin on April 12, and winter sports, like Basketball, has been moved to May 17.  The OSAA board was not in favor of trying to move football to a late spring start as they believe it may interfere with the possibility of Football returning in the fall.  Seasons have also been reduced to a 6 week schedule from 7 weeks.
