No Decision on Contact Sports

The OSAA board of directors met yesterday to determine the status of contact sports for the late winter / spring term.  Currently volleyball, basketball and football are not permitted under the state guidelines for contact sports, but that could change later this week when the state takes up the issue, the OSAA has cleared the way for 7 on 7 flag football with lineman being able to take part in a separate combine.  If the state does not change the guidelines  then teams can begin alternatives next week.  Workouts have been ongoing with the hopes that teams would be cleared to play.  Siuslaw is supposed to open their season in La Pine on March 5th.

Cats Shut Down Lady Ducks

The Arizona Wildcats were too much for the Lady Ducks last night at Matthew Knight Arena.  The number 10 wildcats took an early lead but the Ducks came back several times to tie the game, but never led in the contest.  Only 2 Ducks were in double figures.  Nyara Sabally led the Ducks with 17.  Final score 79-59.  The Lady Ducks are 9-4 in Pac-12 play and 12-4 on the season.

Buffaloes Beat Beavers

The Colorado Buffaloes outgunned the Oregon State Beavers last night in Colorado.  The Beavers had only  one scorer in double figures and shot poorly from the field as the buffaloes cruised to a 78-49 victory.
