Santiam Out Duels Vikings; Mapleton Gets a Taste of Their Own Medicine; Marist Defeats Vikings in Soccer; Siuslaw Big Winners in XC; NCAA Tournament Times

Santiam Out Duels Vikings

The Siuslaw Viking football team came out of the gate on Friday with the intention of shocking Santiam Christian, and they did leading at one point 21 -6 in the first half, but Santiam regained their footing and began methodically working its way back into the game.  The Hawks scored 41 unanswered points to take the game 47-21.  The Viks head next to take on Harrisburg.  Both Harrisburg and the Vikings have started their season 0-2.

Mapleton Gets a Taste of Their Own Medicine

The Mapleton sailors learned about defeat on Friday as they were met with a wall against the Lost River Pirates.  The Pirates have not allowed a point in their opening two games as they blanked Mapleton 41-0.

Marist Defeats Vikings in Soccer

Marist Catholic outscored the Siuslaw Vikings in Soccer on Saturday as they held Siuslaw scoreless and made 4 goals.  Head Viking coach Londi Tomaro said in the loss it was obvious that the team was up for the challenge.  Coach Tomaro said they knew Marist was going to be tough to beat, but it was good to be playing at a higher level against a strong team.

Siuslaw Big Winners in XC

Junior Rylee Colton blasted the competition in Friday’s Bandon Fugate Farms XC Challenge.  Colton finished first in the 5000 meter race with a time of 19:59.39 beating out fellow teammate Brea Blankenship leading the girls to a first place finish.  The boys varsity races were broken down into 2 5000 meter races, in the second race Chad Hughes out ran the competition with a first place finish of 16:40.12 which was the fasted time in both races.  None of the Siuslaw runners participated in the 3000 meter races.

NCAA Tournament Times

The Oregon State Beaver shocked Colorado and took the pac-12 tournament championship securing their place in the NCAA March Madness.  The beavers will face the #5 seed Tennessee Friday with a 1pm pregame on KCFM

While the Oregon Ducks failed to move on in the Pac-12 after taking the regular season title, they will take on the Virginia Commonwealth University on Saturday Pregame on KCST at 6:30
