Vikings Drop Marist in Straight Sets

Siuslaw Viking Volleyball last night found their stride against Marist Catholic.  Coach Ashley Cole said that two 8-0 service runs in each of the first two sets set the tone for the match.  Desi Tupua led with 13 kills and 3 blocks.  Ashley Hennessee had the first 8-0 run in the first set and Meika Shappell served the 8-0 run in the second set.  Cole also highlighted Hayden Muller’s efforts

“she kept a lot of balls of the floor and really put her body on the line to make sure those balls didn’t touch the floor, she really had a lot of saves and a lot of perfect passes that carried us over for the win.”

Final score was 25-20, 25-23, 25-12.

Soccer Called After One Half

Viking soccer was called at the half after Marist scored 8 goals in the first half.  Coach Londi Tomaro said two of the goals were scored by defense trying to clear the goal.  Tomaro says the team will need to work on creating space and visualizing passing lanes, but says there is a lot of talent on the team and they just need to find a way to work less independently.
