Athlete of the Week
The Sports Club, the Siuslaw News and Coast Radio Sports congratulate senior Siuslaw quarterback Elijah Blankenship as this week’s Athlete of the Week. Elijah led the Viking offense in Friday night’s win against Sisters with a pair of Touchdown passes and added a third touchdown rushing as the Vikings post their second win in a row and a final score of 36-19
Honorable mention goes to sophomore Viking Volleyball player Desi Tupua. Desi had 27 kills, 12 serving aces and 8 blocks in two matches and had an 11-0 serving run against Elmira.
Beavers End Run
The Oregon State Beavers rebounded from a 17 point deficit to tie the Houston Cougars with 3:21 left in the game, but Houston mounted an attack to hold off the charging Beavers. The Beavers only scored 17 points in the first half but outscored the Cougars in the second, but were not able to advance to the Final Four. It would have been the Beavers first final four appearance since 1963. Final score Houston 67, Beavers 61.
Schedule
Siuslaw Volleyball will be at home this evening versus Junction City. The Vikings will be looking to settle the score after Junction City blanked them 0-3 at their last meeting. JV games begin at 5:00 and Varsity at 6:45.
Viking Soccer will also be on the field this evening they will travel to Elmira with a game time of 5:30
