Vikings First Outing a Win

The Vikings began their first baseball game of the season with an early lead yesterday in Cottage Grove.  Elijah Blankenship received a leadoff walk and along with  another walk, two errors and a hit later was the first of two runners to score in the first inning.  Cottage Grove evened it up in the bottom of the inning.  Wayne Sharpe said that you could tell the teams were a little rusty but in the end Siuslaw pulled out the victory.  At one point they were ahead 11-6.  Cottage Grove tried a run on the Vikings in the bottom of the 7th and came within 2 of tying the game.  Final score 11-9.

League Honors for Athletes

There were more honors for Siuslaw Athletes yesterday, first in football first team honors on offense go to Elijah Blankenship, Camp Lacouture, Braydon Thornton, Rhys Fleming and Henry Ranking and on defense Skyler Loomis and Isaac Garza received honors.  Second team honors on defense went to Christian Newlan, Camp Lacouture and Braydon Thornton.  Honorable mentions on offense went to Skyler Loomis and Avery Hart with Elijah Blankenship receiving an honorable mention on defense.

Cross Country athletes also received accolades.  First team All honors went to 8 athletes: Rylee Colton, Brea Blankenship, Gracie Freudenthal, Chad Hughes, Sam Ulrich, Kyle Hughes, Jaxson Jensen and Braden Linton.  Second Team League honors went to Jane Lacouture, Corduroy Holbrook, Dylan Jensen and Jacob Blankenship.  All-State first teamhonors went to Rylee Colton.  Second team honors went to Brea Blankenship, Chad Hughes and Sam Ulrich.  Third Team honors went to Jaxson Jensen and Gracie Freudenthal and honorable mentions went to Braydon Linton and Jane Lacouture.
