Sports Update

Viking Cross Country

The Siuslaw Vikings hosted the Central Coast Invitational on Friday with several Siuslaw Athletes standing out.  Sam Ulrich and Jaxson Jensen were the top two finishers in the 800 meter race with Ulrich posting a time of 2:03.38 a personal record for him.  Jensen’s time of 2:07.8 was also a personal record.

Brea Blankenship continues to lead the Sky-EM league in the 800 meter.  Blankenship posted a time of 2:24.92 to take second to Bandon’s Holly Hutton.  Rylee Colton finished in first place in the 3000 meters with a personal record time of 11:15.84 and Chad Hughes finished second for the boys in the 3000 with a personal record time of 9:33.10.

The team of Paasch, Ulrich, Jensen and Petterson finished second in the 4×400 relay with a time of 3:40.46.

Andrea Osbon continued her winning ways with a 35-10 toss in the shot put and a 103-07 toss of the discus.  For the boys Avery Hart finished second in the shot put with a throw of 38-10.  Skyler Loomis tossed the discus 121-05 for a second place finish and finished 3rd in the Javelin with a toss of 152-07.

Viking Baseball

The Siuslaw Vikings were up against the league’s best Marist on Friday.  The Viking boys in the first game committed 6 errors and fell to Marist 13-3.  In the second game the Vikings went into the bottom of the 7th with a 10 -6 lead, but Marist capitalized on mistakes by the Vikings and scored 5 runs to take the win 11-10.  Elijah Blankenship had 4 stolen bases in game two.

Viking Softball

Viking Softball was dominated by Marist in their double header with a pair of 15-0 games.

OSU Baseball

The Oregon State Beavers started off their three game stand with UC Irvine with a 7-5 win, but lost the next two games against their Big West opponent losing 11-9 on Saturday and 7-6 on Sunday.

Duck Baseball

The Oregon Ducks took two out of three against UCLA over the weekend .  The Saturday game against the bruins went to extra innings with two men on in the bottom of the 10th a single by sophomore Sam Novitske scored the winning run.
