Athlete of the Week
The Sports Club, the Siuslaw News and Coast Radio Sports Congratulate senior track and field athlete Brea Blankenship as this week’s Athlete of the Week. Blankenship’s 2:24.92 season record in the 800 meter leads the state in 4A League competition. Coach Chris Johnson says Brea has a shot at a state championship.
Honorable Mention goes to Ian Sissel. Sissel’s two run homer in Friday’s second game against Marist helped to ignite the Vikings. it was a “game changing” hit according to coach Tom Shinn.
Sports Schedule:
Today there are three sporting events on the schedule. The Siuslaw Vikings will be hosting Junction City in baseball. Junction City is 4-2 in League play. Game time on KCST is scheduled for 4:45 today with the first pitch at 5.
Viking softball will also be hosting Junction City. Junction City is 2-4
The Siuslaw Viking track and field team will be on the field in Cottage Grove with field events beginning at 4pm and running events at 4:40.
