Viking Boys Start 2-0; Young Talen Hampers Girl’s Efforts; Sports Schedules

Viking Boys Start 2-0

The Siuslaw Vikings started their season 2-0 after defeating North Bend last night at Glenn Butler Court.  Braydon Thornton led scorers with 14 followed by Brody Terry with 11.  The Vikings started with a full court press to begin the game and led 38-12 at the half.  Coach Dylan Perry put all 13 players on the court.  Final score 64-34.

Young Talen Hampers Girl’s Efforts

The Viking girls are learing to work as a team in their first outing on the court.  The Viking roster is riddled with young talent with only 3 seniors and one junior on the roster.  Senior Lizbeth Garcia showed strong leadership skills in the 43-15 loss against North Bend.  Both the boys and the girls travel to north Bend on Friday.

Sports Schedules:

Mapleton basketball will be on the court tonight to host Eddyville Charter.  Games begin at 5:30.

 

Tomorrow the Siuslaw Vikings will host the 4A state Championships in Track and Field events will begin at 11 am on Friday and conclude on Saturday.

 

Tomorrow the Wrestling team will travel to Sutherlin.  Competition begins at 7 pm.

 

The Eugene Emeralds are currently in the midst of a 6 game series against Tri-City.  The Ems gave up 5 runs in the 5th as the Dust Devils went on to defeat the Ems 6-3.  The Ems are currently 9-5 on the season.
