Official Honored; Extra Inning Win for Ems

Official Honored

Former Oregon Duck football player and current OSAA High School football official Andy Vobora has been selected as the Football State Official of the Year.  Vobora is a member of the Lane County Football Officials Association and has just completed his 31st year of officiating High School Football.  Vobora says receiving the honor never crossed his mind.  The award was presented during the annual Lane County Football Officials barbeque.  Former UO football coach Rich Brooks was the Keynote speaker at the event.

Extra Inning Win for Ems

The Eugene Emeralds were on the verge of defeat last night as the Hillsboro Hops took a 3-1 lead in the 9th inning but the Ems Carter Aldrete tied the game in the bottom of the 9th with a two run homer.  The game ended in the bottom of the 10th on a sacrifice bunt.  Hops pitcher mishandled the ball and Ems Catcher Robert Emery crossed the plate.  The Ems are still 5.5 games back as the Aquasox defeated the Canadians 8-2 last night.  The Ems are back on the field tonight at PK Park at 7:05 to continue their series against Hillsboro.
