Ducks and Beaver Back To Business

The Oregon Ducks and the Oregon State Beavers officially begin their practices for the 2021 football season.  Duck Coach Mario Cristobal says he expects this camp to be the most competitive camp that they have had during his tenure.  He says the off season has been a challenging one for players and staff and everyone is excited to get back to a normal schedule for fall  the Ducks begin their season on September 4th against Fresno State.

Jonathan Smith, head coach for the Beavers says the Beavers players have been working on strength conditioning since June.  He says overall the players are healthy.  Smith says he feels as good as he has felt about an upcoming season.  The beavers start their season on the road at Purdue on September 4th.

Ems Keep Moving Up

So far the Eugene Emeralds have the Tri-City Dust Devils number.  Last night in Eugene the teams were knotted up at 4 through 6 innings.  In the bottom of the seventh inning the Ems scored 3 to take the lead 7-4 and that would be all that was needed.  The Everett Aquasox dropped their game against Spokane moving the Ems another game closer.  The Ems are currently 4 ½ game back in the High A West League.

Siuslaw Names New Coaches

The Siuslaw Vikings have announced that they have added a couple of coaches to the roster for the upcoming school year.  Nick Johnson has been added as an assistant football coach and Amy Flora has been added to the cross country team as an assistant.  Johnson had previously been a volunteer for the Vikings and Flora has been coaching cross country and track and field in some capacity over the past 20 years.  She was a 5 time state champion during her time at Myrtle Point High School where she graduated in 1993.
