Ducks Learning New Defense; Hops Top Ems

Ducks Learning New Defense

The Oregon Ducks are working hard to learn a new defensive system under new defensive coordinator Tim DeRuyter.  The offense is also working on a more robust version of coordinator Joe Moorhead’s playbook.  By the time the players hit the field on Tuesday they seem to have digested most of the new information according to head coach Mario Cristobal.  Cristobal says the team is “doing a good job of sustaining and upholding the standards by which we practice.”  The Ducks are just over 3 weeks away from opening day.

The Beaver camp has been relatively quiet over the past several days, but continue to prepare for their season with Purdue first on the list on September 4th.

Hops Top Ems

A late 9th inning run by the hosting Hillsboro Hops meant a loss for the Eugene Emeralds last night.  The game was knotted up 2-2 after 8 ½ innings when a sacrifice fly by the Hops Tristin English drove in the winning run.  The Ems lost a full game on first place as the Everett Aquasox won against Vancouver 11-6.
