Viking Volleyball; Mapleton Game Scratched; Ems Take Over League Lead

Siuslaw volleyball fought a difficult 5 set match last night against the Pleasant Hill Billies.  Coach Kari Blake says the girls came out strong taking the first two sets 25-23 and 25-22, but lost the next three sets 17-25, 22-25 and 14-16.  Desi Tupua led the team with 15 kills.  Two freshmen also excelled in the match Mylee Blake had 7 kills and 4 blocks and Rihanna Lane had 6 kills and 4 blocks.  The team will take on North Bend on the road on Saturday.

Mapleton Game Scratched

Mapleton’s match against Siletz Valley for this evening has been cancelled.  They are scheduled to play Myrtle Point on Saturday.

Ems Take Over League Lead

The Eugene Emeralds put up 11 runs last night to defeat the Everett Aquasox 11-5.  With a loss by the Spokane Indians last night the Ems move a ½ game out in front to lead the High A West League.  Play resumes tonight for the Ems and Everett at 7:05 at PK Park in Eugene.
