Viking XC Dominates; Viking Volleyball Takes Second; Soccer

Viking XC Dominates

The Siuslaw Viking Cross Country Team on Friday took the top spots in both the boys and girls division at the West Coast Classic at Alderbook Golf Course in Tillamook.  Senior Rylee Colton led the way for the ladies finishing in a time of 19:16.5 which was just 7 tenths of a second off her personal record best recorded at the Nike Portland XC in September.  Freshman Addison McNeill finished in 5th place and sophomore Corduroy Holbrook finished in 10th.  three more girls finished in the top 15.  For the boys it was a complete domination with the first three places going to Chad Hughes, Sam Ulrich and Kyle Hughes with times of 16:05 flat, 16:27.7, and 16:50.6 respectively.  Dylan Jensen and Jacob Blankenship finished out the top ten.  The boys and girls teams both finished in first place.  Next up is the annual Run for the Brownies on Thursday.

Viking Volleyball Takes Second

The Viking Volleyball team competed on Saturday marching through the competition defeating Myrtle Point, Brookings Harbor and cottage Grove to take first in their pool bracket play. In the championship round the girls defeated junction city in 3 sets and Marshfield in 2 before succumbing to North Bend in the Championship 21-25, 32-30 and 11-15.  North Bend is ranked #3 in 5A with only one loss on the season.

Soccer

Viking Soccer will be on the field at home this afternoon to host Elmira.
