97439 Cases

Three more COVID-19 cases for the 97439 zip code as Florence closes in on the 700th case since the beginning of the pandemic.  699 cases have been recorded in Florence, which does not account for cases that have not been diagnosed within the community.  Efforts to mandate mask wearing following the state and CDC recommendations seem to have been working, but the delta variant of the virus has made its way through the community contributing to many of the recent cases according to Lane County Public Health.  The Oregon Health authority is reporting that COVID numbers continue to be on the decline.  The three day weekend total was less than last weeks total by about 800 cases.  2,293 cases were recorded.  Hospitalizations jumped over the weekend with 41 new beds attributed to the coronavirus.

Vaccination Clinic

Lane County Public Health has scheduled a vaccination clinic for this Saturday at the Siuslaw Middle School from 1-3 pm.  It is for first, second, or booster doses.  After the first announcement last week callers to the station could not locate the appropriate selection for the event on the Lane County Website.  As of this morning the site at lanecounty.org does recognize the Middle school clinic with approximately 20 doses of Pfizer, 10 doses of Moderna and 8 doses of Johnson & Johnson remaining.  It is recommended that you get an appointment as availability is limited.  Schedule an appointment at lanecounty.org/vaxclinics.
