Viking Volleyball Advances (update

The Siuslaw Vikings will advance to the playoffs after defeating Banks last night.  Coach Kari Blake says despite the win there were some issues.  Blake says it was a slow start filled with errors on the part of the team as they struggled to keep up tempo.  The Vikings won in 4 sets 25-17, 25-22, 20-25 and 25-21.  Hayden Muller led the team with 43 digs and 10 assists.  Brynlee Manues led with 6 aces, Rhianna Lane had 6 blocks and Mylee Blake led with 17 kills.  Siuslaw will play North Marion Friday night at 5:30.  The Huskies are 9-1 in league play and 12-6 overall.

Sky-Em Cross Country Championships

The Sky-Em League Cross Country Championships are tomorrow in Eugene.  The women will compete at noon and the Men will race at 12:45.  Chad Hughes is the favored for the Vikings with three first place finishes in the last 3 5,000 meter races and a first place finish in last week’s 3000 meter run for the brownies, but any of the top runners for Siuslaw have the ability to take the top spot. Sam Ulrich posted a personal record First Place finish in the Nike Portland XC with a 16:08.8.  Rylee Colton is the top runner for the ladies with a win and two second place finishes in the last three 5000 meter races.
