The Siuslaw Vikings held a short lived lead over the Junction City Tigers last night as they went ahead 8-6 on a kick-off return on their first play.  The Vikings would not have their first offensive scrimmage until early in the second quarter as the Tigers moved the ball down the field in each of their possessions scoring at will.  With about 4 minutes left in the 3rd quarter the Vikings found themselves in an untenable situation as the Tigers had taken a 14-40 lead.  It was about that time that the Viking Volleyball team arrived and the sideline reenergized.  A scoring drive added 6 points for the Vikings making the score 20-40.  The Vikings recovered the onside kick but could not capitalize on the effort.  In the 4th quarter the Vikings held the Tigers scoreless and added two more touchdowns missing both two point conversions to make the score 32-40.  The Vikings got the ball back with about 5 minutes left to go, driving down the field, culminating in a 23 yard touchdown from Beau Erickson to Braydon Thornton and tied the game 40 all.  Coach Sam Johnson decided to go for the kick on the extra point but an unsportsmanlike call for excessive celebration moved the ball 15 yards back.  Camp Lacouture kicked the 35 yarder for a 41-40 lead.  The Tigers got the ball back and began their final drive down the field when a Viking interception sealed the win for the 8-0 Vikings.  The Vikings will host their first playoff next Friday or Saturday.
