Athlete of the Week: Bailey Overton
The Sports Club, the Siuslaw News and Coast Radio Sports congratulate senior Lady Viking wrestler Bailey Overton. Bailey took the quarterfinal match in the 120 pound weight class by fall advancing to the semifinal where she defeated Del Norte’s Alissa Roach by fall. An injury kept her from winning the championship round and she ended up in second place.
Honorable mention goes to freshman lady Viking wrestler Macali Lade who scored 12 team points for Siuslaw after defeating Del Norte’s Channey Schaad and North Bend’s Haley Buskerud.
Viking Basketball
Siuslaw boys and girls basketball will be hosting the Pleasant Hill Billies. The games will begin at 545 at Glen Butler court. Online ticketing can be found at the schools website. There is also a season pass that can be purchased for all Siuslaw regular season home games. Masks are required.
Mapleton Basketball
The Mapleton Sailors were on the court last night in the Bandon Dunes Holiday invitational. They battled Waldport but were outmatched 19-51. The Sailor Girls faced Pacific, but no final score was posted.
College Hoops
The Oregon Ducks are hoping to get back to winning this evening against Pepperdine. The Ducks have dropped 3 of their last 4 games and are 6-6 on the season. Pepperdine is 5-8 but are winless on the road. The Ducks will air on KCST beginning at 5:30. The Oregon State Beavers will host Nicholls this evening and will air on KCFM beginning at 7:30.
