Late Cancellations
There was a pair of late cancellations yesterday as the Oregon Ducks and Oregon State Beavers called off basketball games. The game between the Ducks and Colorado was postponed again this time due to COVID-19 protocols by the Ducks. The Beavers match with Sacramento State was also postponed due to COVID-19 protocols by the Beavers.
Viking and Mapleton Basketball
This evening the game between the Siuslaw Vikings and Sutherlin is scheduled to go on. There is only a boys game scheduled. That game will be broadcast on KCST beginning at 6:45. Mapleton Basketball will be at Triangle Lake this evening beginning at 5:30
Athlete of the Week
The Sports Club, the Siuslaw News and Coast Radio Sports congratulate senior Siuslaw forward Avery Hart as this week’s Athlete of the Week. Hart led the Vikings in scoring in last week’s win against South Umpqua with 16 and followed it up with a team leading 10 points in the loss for the Newport Tournament Championship.
Honorable mention goes to senior Siuslaw guard Brody Terry who backed up Hart with 13 points in the South Umpqua win and matched his team leading 10 in the tournament championship game.
