Mapleton Ends Season with Breakout Win

The Mapleton Sailors boy’s varsity basketball won their final regular season game last night beating the McKenzie Eagles 61-25.  Senior Joe Shepard scored a career high 33 points for the Sailors.  Coach Eric Wolgamatt said in his 6 years of coaching at Mapleton, it was the most he had seen any one player score in a game.  Freshman Alex Burnett added 10 and sophomore Keevyn Walker also added 10.  According to OSAA the Sailors are scheduled to play Alsea tomorrow though Wolgamatt did say last night was their final regular season game, he says they are awaiting scheduling to see where the Sailors will fall in the playoffs.

Lady Vikings

The Siuslaw ladies basketball team hosted Marshfield last night, the Pirates defeated the Vikings 44-12.  They face Elmira on Friday.

Viking Boys

The Viking boys are scheduled for a Saturday game at Junction City at 4 pm.  KCST will have live coverage of the game following Oregon Duck basketball.
