Old Town To Host Pole Vault Demonstration
A plan to bring a pole vaulting demonstration to the streets of Old Town Florence has been approved by the Florence City Council. Siuslaw High School Athletic Director Chris Johnson sought the approval of the City Council for a planned demonstration on March 23, 2022. Johnson said after looking at many possible dates for the event he settled on a mid-week time during spring break. According to Johnson the event will bring in top notch pole vaulters from high schools across the state.
“What we want to do is bring in some pretty high level high school vaulters just so people walking by or people who want to come and watch girls jumping 13 feet, boys jumping up to 16 feet.”
Johnson says warm ups could start as early as 10:30 with a planned demonstration time planned for around noon.
College Hoops
The Oregon Ducks have two more games to finish out the regular season in basketball. The Ducks will be on the road for the Washington Huskies in Seattle tomorrow night and the Washington State Cougars on Saturday in Pullman. The OSU Beavers will be in Pullman tomorrow for a game with the Cougars and on Saturday will face the Huskies in Seattle. The Pac-12 tournament begins next Wednesday from Las Vegas.
