Viking Sports

The Siuslaw Vikings on Friday hosted the Coquille Red Devils.  Freshman Joel Sissel started for the Vikings with 2 innings pitched.  He faced 7 batters striking out 3.  Isaac Garza relieved Sissell and faced 20 striking out 7 allowing no runs and 5 hits.  Every Siuslaw player got at least one hit on the day.  Beau Erickson and Isaac Garza also each stole 3 bases.  Viking won 9-2.

Siuslaw Softball was also on the field, they were defeated by Coquille 16-6.  No details were available.

Mapleton Track

The Mapleton Sailors competed in the McKenzie High School Icebreaker on Saturday.  Senior Joe Shepard had a personal best 5’6” in the high jump and finished 3rd in the long jump at 17’.05”

OSU

The Oregon State Beavers finished out their series with Cal on Sunday defeating the Golden Bears 13-9.  The Beavs took a 3-1 lead into the 5th scoring two more, then allowing Cal to score 3 in the bottom of the 5th and two in the bottom of the 6th.  OSU scored 4 more in the 7th including a run on a balk.  They added 4 more in the top of the 9th.  final 13-9.  OSU took two of three over the weekend.

UO

The Oregon Ducks are in first place in the Pac-12 at 7-2 after taking 2 of three from the USC Trojans over the weekend.  All three games were close although the Trojans tood a 6-1 lead after a 5 run first inning yesterday.  The Ducks made up for it in the 7th and 8th innings scoring 2 and 4 respectively including a Tanner Smith homerun to close out the scoring.  Ducks squeak by 7-6
