Hall of Fame Announcement
The Siuslaw athletic Hall of Fame Committee is close to announcing the final details for this year’s Hall of Fame ceremony. Athletic Director Chris Johnson says the date for the event will be September 10th and they are waiting on confirmation from the Florence Events Center as one of the last pieces to come together. Times for the event will be dependent upon whether or not there will be an auction associated with the program.
Scheduling Baseball
Weather continues to be an issue for outdoor sporting events specifically baseball. Games against Cottage Grove yesterday had to be cancelled due to heavy rains. Siuslaw had also tried to reschedule its game against Marist but were unsuccessful. That game has been rescheduled again for this evening in Eugene It looks as though weather will be good for Friday’s game against Elmira. That game will be a double header at Elmira.
Beavers Over Bulldogs
The 12th ranked Oregon State Beavers evened out the score against Gonzaga yesterday topping the Bulldogs 9-4. The Bulldogs surprised the Beavers out of the gate with a slurry of extra base hits including a two out homer that started a 4 run first. The Beavers evened it up at 4 a piece in the bottom of the second and took the lead in the bottom of the third with a three run inning. The Beavers added some security with a run in the 6th and one in the 8th. the Beavers play Washington next at home on Friday.
Ducks Over Pilots
By the middle of the 6th inning the Oregon Ducks had posted 5 runs against the Portland Pilots but gave Portland a window in the seventh allowing 3 runs. The pilots added a run in the 8th to make it a 5-4 game, but the Pilots went 3 and out in the bottom of the 9th to give the Ducks the victory. The Ducks face Washington State at home on Friday.
