Athlete of the Week
The Sports Club, the Siuslaw News and Coast Radio Sports congratulate senior Mapleton Track and Field standout Joe Shepard. Shepard realized his personal goal of a 40 foot triple jump with a 40’-11.25 inch jump at Friday’s Central Coast Invitational which also gave him a first place finish. He also single handedly racked up 27 points as the sole male on the Mapleton squad and was named MVP of the meet by Athletic.net
Honorable Mention goes to senior Beau Erickson who was 6 for 8 from the plate with 5 stolen bases and pitched 5 innings with just 2 hits and 10 strike outs in Friday’s games against Elmira/Triangle Lake.
Viking Sports
The Siuslaw Vikings will play today at Marshfield. Marshfield is 4-2 in league play. That game will be broadcast on KCST beginning at 4:45. Viking Softball will also play today they are scheduled at 3 pm.
Track and Field for the Vikings will be in Cottage Grove for a JV meet.
Ducks and Beavers Face Off
The Ducks and the Beavers face off today at PK Park. The game will be on KCFM beginning at 5:30
