Viking Double Header
The Siuslaw Vikings added a pair of wins to their schedule after a home double header yesterday. The Vikings faced Cottage Grove in the early game with senior Beau Erickson on the mound. Erickson faced 19 batters striking out 8 and allowed only 2 hits blanking the Lions. Offensively the Vikings hit the ball well with Ethan Halpin going 3 for 3 with 2 RBIS. Jason Garcia and Henry Rankin had two hits and drove in 2 RBIS each. The Vikings had 13 hits scoring 15 in the 4 ½ inning shutout. They continue to struggle with errors with 3.
In Game two Ethan Halpin got the start and faced 29 batters striking out 12 allowing 6 hits and 3 runs. The Vikings trailed early 3-0 until the bottom of the 4th. the Vikings put a string of runs together scoring 3 in the 4th, 5th, and 6th innings for the 9-3 victory. Freshman Max Reynolds was 2 for 2 with a run and a stolen base for the Vikings.
The Viking softball team hosted Marist yesterday. Marist defeated the Vikings 23-5.
