Viking Players Honored
Several Siuslaw Vikings were named to the 2022 Sky-Em All-League Baseball roster. Second team honors went to Siuslaw senior Ethan Halpin for pitching and junior Ian Sissel received honors for the outfield. There were also several honorable Mentions which included Ethan Halpin for first base, senior Beau Erickson also received honors for infield and pitching. And senior Isaac Garza for infield.
Honors in softball went to four Vikings, senior Bailey Overton was recognized as first team infield, junior Ashlee Hennessee received honors for outfield, freshman Jolee Erickson and freshman Abby Riggs received honorable mentions for utility.
Beavers Overtake Huskies
The Washington Huskies briefly held a one run lead over the Oregon State Beavers in yesterday’s Pac-12 tournament. Both teams had a huge 5 run inning in the fourth and the Huskies added two more in the top of the 6th to lead 8-7 but the Beavers found their rhythm on the mound shutting down Washington for the rest of the game while scoring 6 more runs for a 13-8 win. First baseman Garret Forrester contributed a 3 run homer for the Beavs. They move on to face California today. Game time is expected to be around 7pm this evening.
Ducks Fall to Arizona
The Oregon Ducks could not make it 4 in a row against the Arizona Wildcats. The cats won 8-6. Oregon now faces possible elimination today against ASU. First pitch will be at 9am.
