After 7 years away from the diamond the Three Rivers Sandblasters have returned for summer baseball in Florence. They’ve already played two double headers; losing at home last Thursday to Roseburg 26-eight and 9-1. The Sandblasters split two games in Coos Bay Saturday afternoon against the South Coos Nooks. Joel Sissell broke a tie in the 5th inning with an RBI double; the ‘Blasters went on for the 11-8 win. Andrew Jensen Norman picked up the win on the mound, striking out four. Isaac Garza came in to close things out in the 6th inning, recording the final 6 outs. The Nooks bounced back in the nightcap winning 9-nothing. The Sandblasters have a roster of 14 players, all of whom played spring baseball for the Siuslaw Vikings. They are an American Legion Single-A team. They’re off this week but will be back on the diamond Saturday at home for a double header against North Eugene.
