Athlete of the Week

The Sports Club the Siuslaw News and Coast Radio Sports congratulate senior harrier Sam Ulrich as this week’s Athlete of the Week.  Sam led the charge for the Vikings in last Week’s Fugate Farm Invitational helping his team win the overall title with a time of 16:56.44 in the 5000 meter varsity run.

Honorable mention goes to junior Mapleton football player Keevyn Walker.  Keevyn scored two touchdowns in Mapleton’s first win of the season including a 64 yard kick return and passed for a third in their 21-13 win

Viking soccer

Viking Boy’s soccer lost to Sisters in a hard fought defensive battle last night, coach Londi Tomaro said Sisters was a tough opponent but the Viks didn’t give up. Goalie Derrick Vanduch had 19 saves on the night in the 3-0 loss.

Viking Girls also played Sisters last night and were plagued with illness and injury.  Katelynn Masterman was taken from her forward position to fill the goalie box and had 8 saves.  The ladie lost 8-0.

Volleyball

Siuslaw Volleyball is on the court this evening facing Elmira with JV at 5 and varsity at 6:30.  Mapleton Volleyball will be at Siletz this evening at 6pm.
