Athlete of the Week
The Sports Club, the Siuslaw News and Coast Radio Sports congratulate senior soccer player Yoskar De La Mora as this week’s Athlete of the Week. Yoskar’s defensive skills were instrumental in the Viking’s two wins last week as well as his contributions to the offense scoring a goal in the win against the Hawks. Coach Tomaro says it was the best two games she has seen Yoskar play.
Honorable Mention goes to Siuslaw junior football player Dayne Muller. Muller caught a 21 yard touchdown late in the fourth quarter clinching the Vikings 46-34 road win over the Creswell Bulldogs.
Mapleton Volleyball
Sophomore Morgan Milbrett had 6 aces and 5 kills as the Mapleton Sailors Volleyball team scored a victory over McKenzie last night in three sets in the first of a two game outing. In the second game the Eagles put up a better match with both teams taking two sets. The Sailors fought off the surge in play and took the 5th set. MIlbrett again led the charge for the Sailors with 9 aces and 6 kills.
Siuslaw Girls Soccer
Siuslaw girls varsity soccer fell to Santiam Christian/Kings Valley Charter last night 0-8.
Siuslaw Volleyball
Siuslaw Volleyball will be at Harrisburg this evening with JV beginning at 5 and varsity at 6:30.
