Siuslaw Basketball
The Siuslaw Basketball season started last night with the Viking girls taking the court first against the North Bend Bulldogs. While the girls matched up in size the aggressive play of the bulldogs was too much for the Vikings. Pressure and turnovers continued throughout the game. The Vikings did their best to match the intensity of the Bulldogs but were out shot and out rebounded. Final score 49-10 Bulldogs.
It was a similar story for the Viking boys taking on the 4A bulldogs. The bulldogs out rebounded the Viks yet the Vikings pushed hard to stay in the game. The Vikings struggled to score from the outside. Bulldog defense held the Vikings to 38 points while scoring 61.
Mapleton Basketball
The Mapleton Girls could not field enough players to compete against Elkton last night in 1A basketball, however the Sailor Boys did. Elkton defeated Mapleton 63-23
College Hoops
The Beavers and Ducks are on the court this evening. the Beavers will face the Washington Huskies at Gill with a 6:30 pregame on KCFM and the Ducks face the Other Washington team the cougars and the Ducks tip off at 7:30 with a 7pm pregame on KCST.
