Viking Baseball

Friday was another successful outing for the Siuslaw Vikings.  First in Baseball.  Against Coquille the Vikings scored 8 runs on 7 hits and despite 5 errors held coquille to 4 runs.  Jordan Pitcher was 3 for 4 from the plate scoring two runs  Mathias Wilson had just one hit but placed to runners across the plate.  Zak Nilles got the win for the Vikings with 2 and a third innings pitched fanning 4 with two walks.  Matthias Wilson had a good outing for the Vikings with 4 2/3 innings pitched allowing 2 runs and striking out 4.

Viking Softball

The Viking Ladies were also victorious defeating Coquille 12 -2.  Jolee Erickson pitched 5 innings for the Vikings striking out 5 allowing only 3 hits.  Erickson also helped out on offense with two rbi’s and three stolen bases.

Oregon Ducks

Sophomore Nate Bittle finished with 21 points and 13 rebounds and Oregon rolled to a 68-54 victory over UCF in the second round of the NIT. Bittle sank 7 of 14 shots from the floor with a 3-pointer for the top-seeded Ducks (21-14), who advance to play No. 2 seed Wisconsin (19-14) in the quarterfinals. Quincy Guerrier contributed 14 points and six boards. Kel’el Ware pitched in with 11 points off the bench, while Rivaldo Soares scored 10.  The Ducks face Wisconsin next tomorrow at 6pm with a 5:30 pregame on KCST
