Viking Baseball Double-Header

The Siuslaw Viking Baseball team skirted the weather on Friday as it hosted the Creswell Bulldogs for a Double Header.  The Vikings in the first game blanked Creswell 16-0 with an error free game.  Joel Sissel went 4 and 2/3 innings striking out 9.  Zak Nilles came in for the third and final out of the game fanning his hitter. Jacob Mann went 3 for 3 from the plate driving in 5 runs.

Game two was a little more competitive.  Micah Blankenship started on the mound for the Viks and faced 10 batters in two innings allowing 7 runs.  The Bulldogs took an 8-2 lead into the 5th inning when the Vikings fought their way back scoring 7 in the fifth and 5 more in the 6th to take a 14-8 lead.  Mathias Wilson scored the win for the Vikings allowing 1 run and striking out 7.  The Vikings start the league season 3-0.

Viking Softball

Viking softball did not play on Friday but will be on the field today at home against Oakridge. Game time is 2pm.

Mapleton Softball

Elmira/Mapleton’s games against Junction City were cancelled on Saturday.

College Baseball

The Oregon State Beavers went 2 for 3 against Cal over the weekend taking the series with yesterday’s 2-1 win in Corvallis.

The Oregon Ducks went 4 for 4 against Northwestern State.
